The Effects. of Seungkumsan(승금산: sengchinsan)on Ischemia in Perfused Rats Heart

Abstract
|
|
|
In this study, the effects of Seungkumsan, which is used in oriental medicine of the treatment of cardiac pain due to "blood stasis", were tested as a part of series of experimental verification of clinical treatments for preventing and curing
ischemic
heart disease, which is increasing nowadays.
@ES The results were as follows:
@EN 1) Seungkumsan effectively recovered heart rate, heart pressure and flow rate from ischemia in perfused rats heart. Release of lactate dehyrogenase after ischemia was also decreased compared to control group.
2) Total ATPase activity and percentage of ouabain sensitive (Na+ K+) ATPase were increased.
3) Seungkumasan decreased blood pressure significantly in SHR.
4) Triglyceride and cholesterol contents in heart and aorta were significantly decreased in Seungkumsan treated group, and total cholesterol and HDL-cholesterol in serum were also decreased.
5) Seungkumsan was not effective in platelets count and collagen stimulated aggregation of platelets
As the results of this experimental study show that Seungkumsan has significant effects on ischemic heart, hypertension and hyperlipidemia, it may be concluded that the clinical application of Seungkumsan treatments for ischemic heart disease is
appropriate.
